Second Half Update- Duke v. Maryland

I really liked the tweets of the 1st half, so I’ve A. Decided to do it for the second half, and B. decided to make a twitter account strictly for this blog, as a way of allowing people to follow me so it’s less labor intensive for me to post my tweets on the blog, and so I don’t piss off my followers.  Details forecoming about the twitter.  Anyway, the second half tweets:

I take back my previous tweet about both teams breaking 10 goals this quarter. Maryland will, Duke won’t.

First Half Update-Duke v. Maryland

I had an idea. I’ve tweeted so much about this game in the first half that I’ve decided to post all of my game-related 1st half tweets, in chronological order. And yes, for a while I did put an “S” in Rotanz.

Just noticed the duke facemasks are blue up top and white on the bottom half. Pretty sweet

Solid possession for both teams, Duke getting the ball around, making attempts to get in, Maryland not getting too aggressive

That’s just a miscommunication. The scorer was wide open, and another guy had nobody in 10 yards near the top of the box left side

Can’t argue with that call clear trip to end the half. 2nd and 3rd quarters start without a faceoff because of a penalty. Rare.

Phew!!!

It’s over. Top-Seeded Loyola took down
the four seed Notre Dame, 7-5. Eric Lusby scored five again, adding an assist. He was involved in every goal but the one right before halftime, that stopped Notre Dame’s momentum coming into the break. Loyola was able to overcome winning only 1 faceoff, in part thanks to their defense and Notre Dame’s struggles clearing. Notre Dame did start a comeback late in the game, but Loyola managed to stave it off, in part due to a dropped pass with about 1:45 left that gave the ball to Loyola after the Irish finally forced a turnover. The Greyhounds will face the winner of the next game between Duke and Maryland Monday at noon on ESPN.
